Lambs & Hatching Chicks

Orchard Tractor Trailer Rides & Easter Hunt

Easter Crafts

The Brogdale Easter event is to take place on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of April at the home of the National Fruit Collection and is to include a range of visiting farm animals along with the fluffy favourites such as bunnies and chicks.

The Brogdale Barn will be occupied with calves, lambs and sheep, goats, chickens and other poultry. It’s a great chance for children to meet a friendly range of farm animals and the farmers that look after them. The Kent Poultry Club will be supporting the event for the third year and bring an impressive range of different chickens and other poultry to display. For the Easter event the Club will also be hatching chicks in an incubator.

Visitors can catch a tractor trailer ride into the orchards to take part in the Easter Egg Hunt which will be set among the fruit trees with an Easter chocolate prize on completion. The Easter Bunny will be making an appearance for the event to help children with the hunt.

Kimberly Campion, Development Officer comments; “each year we are making the Easter celebration bigger and better. We want to encourage families to visit Brogdale and enjoy all our farm has to offer. It’s exciting to have the animals here in spring as we wait for the first fruit of the season to start ripening”.

Guided Blossom Tours will also be available taking visitors around the orchards to give an insight into the different varieties of fruit and why preserving the varieties is so important. The collections hold over 4000 different varieties of fruit and form the largest collection in the world.

Visitors can bring along a picnic or use the café/restaurant in the Brogdale Marketplace. Children can enjoy the play park and the miniature railway which will be running throughout the Easter weekend. The marketplace also has a range of shops offering local beers, wines, cheeses, preserves, meat and gifts.

Easter is a fundraising event for the Brogdale Collections Charity which facilitates visitor access to the National Fruit Collections together with promoting a range of educational opportunities at the farm.

Bernie Cranfield, Events and Marketing Manger comments; “our events make a significant contribution to the work of our Charity. We are constantly working to offer new opportunities for the public to learn about the different fruits and fundraising is vital for this development. This year we have a brand new Education Programme to offer to schools which has been made possible through our fundraising efforts and visitor support”.

Tickets for the Easter Event cost £7.50 per adult, £3.50 per child and can be purchased through the website www.brogdalecollections.co.uk.

The Orchard Pass (Yours for a Year) ticket can be purchased as a special offer to include the Easter and then unlimited Guided Tours and Walks for the season. The pass costs £12 adult, £25 a family or £35 for a family plus grandparents.
